In the last 25 years the prevalence of obesity in England has more than tripled.
It has also been shown that obesity can be linked to serious health problems. Let me put this
in perspective for you with some rather scary figures.
When you combine these statistics with the impact obesity can have on a person’s
confidence, identity, self-esteem and ability to participate in regular life activities it is of no
surprise that many people are now seeking to lose weight.
The danger is that people fall into the trap of participating in fad diets, taking appetite
suppressors or other potions, swapping real food for milkshakes or completely leaving some
foods types out of their diet. These diets are appealing because they claim that you can
lose weight really fast, and often have a picture of some young athlete with rock hard abs
wearing a pair of trousers that are now fifteen times too big for her. The way it is marketed
is so easy to fall into. (I have done the same thing with ‘muscle building potions’ and I still
have more muscle in my big toe than anywhere else!!).
So I have ranted about obesity, diet pills, fad diets and the negative effects of being
overweight and yet I still have not mentioned hypnotherapy. Allow me to begin.
I am not going to sell you a magic cure here. I am not going to say I will hypnotise you and
you will leave my consulting room desperately trying to hold your trousers up because that
would be unrealistic and it would be a lie. Safe and effective weight loss does not happen in a day.
However, hypnotherapy has proven results in helping people lose weight because of what
it teaches and the way it can have powerful effects on breaking patterns and adjusting
