Whereas yes indeed there are genetic factors and health issues that may predispose some individuals to obesity it is important for you to realise and understand the following:
Obesity rates have sky rocketed since the 1950’s and have tripled since the 1980’s. The cause of this cannot be labelled as genetic because quite simply genes do not change that fast.
Therefore the main cause for increasing obesity rates can be put down to environmental factors – which of course interact powerfully with our own psychological factors. For example, the processes involved in our food related decision making may be influenced by the availability of junk food, food prices, stress factors and so on.
